Abstract
- The author reflects on biologist Alfred Russel Wallace and his work related to biogeography. He states that his discoveries at Malay Archipelago was remarkable, where he apart from providing description of biotic transition, speculated geological history. He mentions that Wallace studied biological diversity here which helped to give insight to the process of evolutionary diversification. He highlights that he used to rely on mammalian fossil to interpret ecological impact of mammalian biota.
