THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN REPTILE CONSERVATION ASSESSMENT, 2005-2009.

The article discusses the Southern African Reptile Conservation Assessment (SARCA) for the 2005-2009 period. SARCA aims to collect and analyze information on reptile species found in South Africa, Swaziland and Lesoto. The project is a collaboration between the University of Cape Town's Animal Demography Unit and the South African National Biodiversity Institute. The creation of a reptile distribution database is one of the results of SARCA. SARCA also aims to create an Atlas and Red Data Book of Reptiles.
