Abstract

The article discusses a study which evaluated the use of a new dry powder aerosolizer for administration of a recombinant surfactant protein-C-based surfactant in animal models of acute lung injury. The setting of the laboratory experiment was at a university laboratory and involved rabbits and mice. The researchers concluded that dry powder aerosolizer has the potential to be an effective therapy of acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome.
