Abstract

The article discusses a study on the geographical distribution of Heteroliodan fohy, an aglyphous and terrestrial snake genus endemic to Madagascar. It states that the Heteroliodon fohy, which can be distinguished through its dark brown dorsal coloration, whitish venter, yellowish nuchal band, and whitish upper lip, was only known before from the single type specimen found in the of Montagne des Français. It states that the researchers found an adult specimen in the region of Bobaomby, extreme north of Madagascar on October 25, 2006, in which the characteristics show close resemblance to the holotype. It mentions that the intensive survey produced records that represent only the second known locality for these species and may reveal the northern limit for its distributional range.
