Abstract
- On account of the high d.c. electric fields employed in the gas discharge tube plasmas, the electron temperature is much higher than the heavy particle temperature. Under such a non-thermal equilibrium, the propagation parameters for microwaves and radiowaves are considerably influenced by the d.c. electric field through the energy dependent electron collision frequency. As an example the cyclotron resonance of the extraordinary mode is suppressed and shifted by the hot electron effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
