Focuses on the regulation of eosinophil apoptosis in chronic allergic diseases, highlighting the effect of anti-inflammatory drugs in these pathophysiologic mechanisms. Effect of interleukin-5 in eosinophil apoptosis; Important mechanism contributing to eosinophilia; Association of glucocorticoid therapy with reduction of eosinophil numbers due to induction of apoptosis.
