Abstract

The paper deals with a DC drive system in which a separately excited DC motor is supplied from a three-phase semi-converter circuit. During the operation of the system there are well-defined time intervals initiated and terminated by the switching action of thyristors and diodes. Circuit operation during each interval is represented by a set of linear differential equations. The paper presents closed-form solutions for the equations of each interval. The method is general and obtains the solution for either continuous or non-continuous conduction modes of operation. It predicts the behaviour of the system for both transient and steady-state conditions. The results show good agreement with experimental values. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
