Abstract
- The article reports on the negative impact of the printing of picture books for children in China on tropical rainforests in Indonesia. According to the World Wildlife Fund and the Rainforest Action Network (RAN), many picture books are being printed in China, where printers make wide use of cheap Indonesian paper. Due to efforts to meet the increased demand for pulpwood for paper, only less than one-half of Indonesia's original forest cover remains.
