Abstract

The advantages of an IC 555 timer in thyristor phase control are examined. Analysis of the standard line voltage compensation scheme shows that the modulating voltage of the timer can be conveniently employed for this purpose. A simple modification in the circuit also makes it an ideal zero crossover switch. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
