Abstract
- The article focuses on the so-called Ben Franklin Project, the first digital-first strategy initiated by Journal Register Co. (JRC) in which newspapers use Web-based digital tools to complete their editions. According to chief executive officer John Paton, to change in thinking is the reason to make the 18 dailies of JRC produce a newspaper using free Web-based digital tools. Paton notes that one of the reasons why processes of newspapers are broken is the failure of companies to invest in proper information technology (IT).
