The article presents information about a history conference held in Berlin, Germany on May 7-8, 2010. Topics under discussion at the conference included the nature of area histories as an academic discipline, the relations between history-centered and interdisciplinary approaches to regional histories, and the purpose of area studies. Presentations were given by international historians Frauke Brammer, Julian Plenefisch, and Stefan Rinke.
