Abstract
- The author discusses the possible relationship between the perception that artist-teachers are unreliable and what it means to have an artistic nature in the first place. He observes how those in the arts teach idioms and techniques that they themselves believe and practice. Scenarios in music instruction are given where students are apt to better achieve greater learning. The author asserts that in their efforts to deal with budgetary problems, music schools have lost the ability to give students freedom to learn deeply.
