Abstract
- The article presents a comparison of American craft culture in the 1960s and 1970s and in the first decade of the 21st century. It examines the context of each movement, discussing the impact that war, energy issues, youth attitudes towards government, and economic uncertainty played in each period. It explores the literature that accompanied each movement and discusses what issues these movements were responding to. It explores feminism, the reaction to industrialization and changes in the tone of the literature accompanying each movement.
