Abstract

The article compares technologies current to 2010 with early versions of the technologies. In 2010, thumb drives can store 32 gigabytes of data; in 1980, floppy disks could only hold 140 kilobytes and required expensive disk drives. In 2010, an iPhone smart phone replaces the function of many older technologies, including a Polaroid camera and walkman. The first cell phone in 1980 weighed a pound and a half. Cars of 2010 now have standard features considered futuristic in 1980.
