USMC COMPLETES LAIRCM BUY.

The article reports on the completion of the acquisition of a laser-based, directional, infrared countermeasures (DIRCM) by the U.S. Marine Corps. The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) awarded a 77.7 million U.S. dollar contract to Northrop Grumman to provide the DIRCM system for the service's medium- and heavy-lift helicopters. The DIRCM has the capability to protect the low-and-slow flying aircraft against infrared-guided man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS).
