Abstract

The article discusses marketing tools, some are proven to generate revenue quickly, that can be used by newspapers. It tackles the so-called deal of the day or flash marketing being offered by social shopping Web sites with aspects of social media. It notes the need to consider mobile as a unique medium with content and business plans aimed at taking advantage of such qualities as its geolocation capabilities, texting and alerts, and audio and interactivity. Online newspaper auctions are cited as a strategy for attracting new advertisers.
