Abstract

The article discusses the social impact of the reintroduction of American Bison (Bison bison) as part of a national recovery program in southwestern Yukon Canada. It lists its several ecological functions which is said to be of great significance in evaluating their restoration in the ecosystem. It notes the different observations that were documented on the used of bison's fur as nesting materials by birds and small mammals including the American Red Squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus). The latter's nests including the types of fur used are evaluated.
