Abstract

The article assesses the prevalence, risk factors, and treatment of prolongation of the prothrombin time in critically ill patients in Great Britain. The pattern of prothrombin prolongation in terms of prevalence, severity, and duration is observed. The characteristics of patients with prothrombin prolongation are discussed including factors that have independent associations with the prolongation of prothrombin.
