Abstract
- The article critiques the proposed design of the planned Islamic community center called Park51 in Lower Manhattan, New York City by Michel Aboud's firm Soma Architects. It says that the design shows a Western interpretation of the Islamic architectural element of mashrabiya. It also comments on the controversy surrounding the proposed center and the center's level of integration with its surroundings.
