Abstract
- The article focuses on the strategies identified by clinical trials such as the UKPDS and DIGAMI studies for cardiovascular risk reduction in diabetes. It says that the trials have an impact on cardiological practice, which emphasised the importance of blood pressure control and the value of insulin treatment in diabetic myocardial infarction. It adds that the results of angioplasty are less good in diabetic than with non-diabetic patients.
