In this article the author comments on the introduction and media coverage of the new A* grade for the highest public-examination results in Great Britain. The author follows the issue closely because she has a group of new Choral Exhibitioners and an Organ Scholar whose results will determine whether or not they will attend Selwyn College. She explains how the public examination works and why it receives media attention.
