Abstract

The article discusses the approach taken in defining the scenarios used into the third phase of the Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project (PMIP3) over the last millennium (LM) along with the forcing reconstructions and implications. It presents the first-order forcing functions that are relevant for this period which had been chosen by the availability of data and state of knowledge. The functions include orbital variations, well-mixed greenhouse gases and land use/land cover (LULC).
