Abstract

The article discusses higher education in Ireland and the financial crisis in Ireland. It is noted that researchers and professors are working to make money through their research and to ensure that Ireland remains an important center of progress and research. Pat Frain, who is director of Nova UCD at University College Dublin (UCD), discusses the importance of this objective to produce viable research projects that can yield income. Ireland's foray into technology transfer projects through its Enterprise Ireland program and government financing for academic research are also discussed.
