Abstract
- The article focuses on the study conducted to examine human blood vessel-derived endothelial progenitors for endothelialization of small diameter vascular prosthesis. It mentions coronary bypass graft failure has been the major challenge in surgical procedures that involves small diameter vascular prosthesis. The data confirms that endothelial progenitors that is obtained from human blood vessels can be expanded in vitro under xenoprotein-free conditions. The endothelialized grafts may represent a promising treatment for improving vascular grafts in cardiac bypass surgeries.
