Abstract

The article assesses the effects of hysterectomy on the incidence and risk of renal cell carcinoma. Findings showed 17.4 cases per 100,000 person-years as the crude incidence rates of renal cell carcinoma among women who underwent hysterectomy, and 13.1 cases per 100,000 person-years among those without hysterectomy. Results revealed a consistent increase and similar magnitude of the overall risk of renal cell carcinoma from January 1973 to December 2003.
