Abstract
- An article discussing the collision of two passenger aircraft above the Grand Canyon in Arizona in 1956 is presented. The author examines the lack of air traffic control before the crash which involved TWA Flight 2, a Lockheed Super Constellation aircraft, and United Airlines Flight 718, a Douglas DC-7 aircraft. The recovery of the wreckage and victims following the crash and the establishment of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is also included.
