Abstract
- The article presents a speech by U.S. President Barack H. Obama delivered on December 21, 2010. President Obama issued Proclamation 8620, National Stalking Awareness Month, 2011. He explains how stalking is a serious and pervasive crime in the U.S. and a better understanding of it was gained with the passage of the Violence Against Women Act in 1994. Celebrating the special month, he asserts that it is a time to acknowledge the seriousness of such crime as well as recognize its effect on victims and a recommitment towards reducing its incidence.
