The article reports on backwards or retrograde planets, or planets that orbit their parent stars in the opposite sense to the stars' rotations. A discussion of research which has been conducted on backwards planets by astronomers John Johnson and Josh Winn is presented. Research on modelled active galaxies that was conducted by David Garofalo of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California is discussed
