Compromiso y responsabilidad organizacionales: Una aproximación sistémica.

This paper presents a set of reflections related to the commitments and responsibilities that organizations should assume within society as a whole, as well as in the natural environment, and not only in respect to the entities with which the organizations sustain frequent relations. We try to approach the different themes that are presented with a comprehensive, holistic, systemic vision, trying to base the construction of a new vision on social, environmental and organizational consciousness. We start from the conceptualization that an organization is not isolated, but it permanently interacts with a context that influences it, and is influenced by the organization. Starting from this basis, diverse definitions are analyzed about what is considered as "social responsibility," "ecological responsibility," and "business ethics," among other terms, which are themes that recently have become important and have apparently been converted into fads adopted by corporations in order to look "responsible", to obtain a certain reputation and recognition; nevertheless, the application of those terms is deemed by the authors to suffer from deep deficiencies. For example, on one hand corporations apply these terms only to clients and suppliers, and on the other hand they have been dealt with as a gracious gift to the community where they are operating, and for those reasons, their claims come up short. This paper tries to contribute to the construction of a conceptual framework for "organizational commitment and responsibility" with the purpose of rescuing the positive aspects of those concepts and not seeing them only as passing fads.
