Abstract

This paper reflects about the social responsibility of the banking sector. Two questions of investigation are considered: as social responsibility and profitability in the banking sector converge? how it is the organizational behavior in particular of a specific banking group?. In the theoretical part, are analyzed the linking society organizations; different expectations among all actor; we analyzed too, concepts such as norms, values and environmental obligations. The investigation in particular analyzes the behavior of organizational indicators of a banking group. Four dimensions are reviewed: economic, social, human, environmental and it concludes that the economic dimension it has been prioritized the detriment of the other three. In this sense, it is common practice in the banking sector to punish the saving with low real interest rates below the inflation and the collection of high rates for the loans. The specific banking group that analyzes itself does not escape of this rational vision. Finally the paper considers that the importance of organizational values in the banking sector have a social impact and is necessary to continue analyzing it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
