Abstract
- The article discusses the issues of tenure and workload for college professors and university undergraduate teachers. A November 2010 report from the U.S. Department of Education, "Employees in Postsecondary Institutions" says that the percentage of instructors with tenure or on the tenure track has declined from 57 percent in 1971 to 30 percent in 2009. A survey by Canada Statistics and estimates from the Canadian Association of University Teachers show a similar decline.
