Abstract

The study of burnout has been increasingly associated to the research of engagement, for which different models have been developed. The aim of this study was to present an application of the Job Demands-Resources model its relationship with burnout and engagement and its effects on symptoms and life satisfaction. The sample was composed of 190 primary and secondary school teachers from Peru. Results showed that job demands are predictors of burnout and engagement, whereas these two last indicators predict stress symptomatology. Job resources exclusively predict engagement, which in turn predicts life satisfaction. These findings confirm the differential impact of job demands and resources, as well as the possible crossed effects. Practical implications are derived from these results, such as the convenience of adjusting work environments to the specific characteristics of each profession. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
