The article discusses the burdens of and associated risk factors for chronic diseases and injuries in India. Several groups of chronic disorders that have similar health-system interventions are cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic disorders. Data showed that 11% of deaths in the country were due to injuries and 50% were due to chronic diseases. In addition, about 60% of the disease burden is borne by people aged 15 years and older.
