Abstract

V[sup 4+] doped YA10[sub 3], LaGaO[sub 3], and CaYA1O4 crystals (3 d¹ ion in octahedral coordination) have been grown and characterized as potential broadband laser materials using optical and electron paramagnetic resonance techniques. The effect of charge compensation on the vanadium valence state and spectroscopic properties of the materials are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
