Abstract

The article discusses the impact on car makers of parts shortages arising from an earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March, 2011. Several automobile plants in Japan have suspended operations, and U.S. and European facilities of General Motors Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. are curtailing vehicle production or planning to do so. A major concern is a shortage of airflow sensors.
