Abstract
- The article presents an overview of the challenges in feeding patients with dementia in the U.S., and offers strategies to be taken by caregivers to overcome those difficulties. It states several factors that contribute to such challenges including impaired cognitive function, environmental factors and cultural considerations. It suggests playing relaxing music if a patient reacted violently when being fed. Health care settings are urged to supply enough number of trained personnel to help in feeding such patients.
