Abstract
- The article presents basic and new information about treatment and management of atrial fibrillation (AF). AF is defined as the most common and sustained heart rhythm disorder associated with old age. An explanation of how AF occurs, its causes and manifestions are given in detail. The European Heart Rhythm Association developed a classification tool guide that clinicians can use to decide what course of management to apply. Discussion of rate control, rhythm control, therapies like catheter ablation, and medicines like dronedarone are also mentioned.
