Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this study was to characterize the adverse events of attenuated measles vaccine in mainland China. We carried out prospective follow-up of adverse events after mass measles immunization practices, categorizing them into two groups: allergic reactions and serious adverse events. The incidence of anaphylaxis reaction was estimated to be 6.5 per million for attenuated measles vaccine. Among 14.3 million vaccination practices, 1 case each of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and 28 cases of Henoch–Schonlein purpura (HSP) were reported. The total incidence of serious adverse events after vaccination was 2.14 per million doses. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
