Abstract

The article presents a report on a Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja) observed to be feeding on a brown-throated three-toed sloth (Bradypus variegates). Due to their secretive nature, very few studies have reportedly been made on the feeding behavior of Harpy Eagles. On February 24 to 27, 2010, a Harpy Eagle was observed feeding on a brown-throated three-toed sloth. It was the first of a non-scavenging raptor feeding for more than two days on prey.
