Abstract
- In this article the author discusses the prediction of earthquake in Tokai, Japan. He is critical on the seismic and tsunami hazards warnings by the Japanese seismologists, especially Katsuhiko Ishibashi to the nuclear power plants safety. He argues that the government should stop using seismic hazard maps and flawed methods for long-term forecasts and scrap the system for predicting Tokai earthquake. He also suggests repealing the 1978 Large-Scale Earthquake Countermeasures Act (LECA).
