Screening of currency in circulation for bacterial contamination.

Abstract
- The article presents a study on the microbial contamination of the currency circulating in Mangalore, Karnataka in India. The study have a total of 50 samples, composed of currency notes and coins that were collected from the general population. The samples were screened using random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique, which shows that 96% of the coins and 100% of the currency notes were contaminated with bacterial species including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
