Abstract

The article discusses the impact of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear problem on the U.S. nuclear industry. According to the author, the nuclear industry is needed more than ever as the U.S. continues to look for places to provide it with ample energy sources. It says that the industry since the 9/11 attacks has been upgrading its systems to keep the country safe even after a disaster like that of the March 2011 Japan earthquake. Iowa Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds believes the nuclear facilities in the state will not be impacted by what happened in Japan.
