Abstract

We collected 330 serum samples from 55 dairy farms in the Basin of Caparaó, State of Espírito Santo, elaluated by microscopic agglutination (MAT) for eight serovars, found a frequency of 12.42% (41) of reactor animals for at least a serovar tested. Serovar hardjobovis presented himself as the most frequent among reactive sera with 41 (12.42%) samples, followed by Bolivia with 32 Hardjo sample (9.69%), sample Hardjo Lagoa 30 (9.09%) Hardjo Norma with 21 (6.36%), Hardjo WHO 20 (6.06%) and Wolffi with 8 (2.42%), with no positive reaction against serovars Pomona and Hebdomadis. Among the 41 samples reagents, 100% of them were reactive to serovar hardjobovis followed by serovar hardjobovis Bolivia with 32 samples (78.04%), sample Hardjobovis Lagoa 30 (73.17%), Hardjoprajitno Norma sample with 21 (51.21%), WHO Hardjoprajitno sample with 20 (48.78%) and serovar Wolfi with 8 (19.51%), with no front seropositivity to serovars Pomona and Hebdomadis. The results showed that the serovar Hardjobovis probably is the causative agent of most problems related to infection by bacterium of the genus Leptospira spp in this region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
