Abstract

The article discusses post-pediatric liver transplant long-term care. Patients' risk of acute rejection can be time related and their immunosuppression can be decreased by a year after transplantation. Drugs like ciclosporin and tacrolimus have been the traditional course of treatment for post-transplant care, but azathioprine and mycophenolate have been added recently. Hypertension and reduced physical activity are some of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The author says transition to adult care should be an organized process.
