Predicting U.S. Coal Plant Retirements.

The article discusses the challenges faced by the U.S. power industry to fit into the parameters of regulations proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is stated that some coal-fired plants with poor efficiency, limited remaining life, and inadequate capital will be forced to close under the latest regulatory requirements to bring upgrades in the technology. An analytical process to measure coal-fired plant performance metrices is also given.
