Abstract

The article discusses the leaking of classified government and military information to the press and its legality in the U.S. Emphasis is largely given to the disclosure of information concerning the operations of the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA). The author engages with the notion that leaking such information poses a considerable threat to U.S. national defense. Whether or not government whistleblowers are patriots or criminals is also debated. The enactment of various statutes and other pieces of legislation regarding the protection of classified information is examined as well.
