Abstract
- The article presents a speech by illustrator Bryan Collier, winner of the Coretta Scott King (CSK) Illustrator Award, delivered at the Coretta Scott King Awards Breakfast, held at the American Library Association conference in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 28, 2011. He thanked his publisher and the CSK committee and discussed his creative process and research he conducted before illustrating the book "Dave the Potter: Artist, Poet, Slave," by Laban Carrick Hill.
