Abstract
- The article reports that the National Audubon Society chapters in California and the state's attorney general's office have signed a settlement with the NextEra Energy Resources, wind turbine operator based in Altamont. Under the settlement, NextEra will replace or remove 2,400 old turbines in the area designed to be safe for birds. An overview of the new 1.5-megawatt turbines is given. It is expected that the new turbines will reduce bird killings in the areas by 90 percent.
