The article presents information about a conference on the educational policies and ideals of different cities in Germany from 1945 to 2010. It was held October 7-9, 2010 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Topics under discussion at the conference included several detailed studies of the educational ideals and policies from 1945 to the 1960s, a comparison of education in the cities of Dortmund, Freiburg and Dresden, as well a look at what education was like in the city of Köln after World War II.
