Abstract
- The article announces that the U.S. is celebrating National Birth Defects Prevention Month in January 2011 which will focus on medication use before, during and after pregnancy. It explains the need for more information about the safety of taking most medications during pregnancy. It provides an overview of the National Birth Defects Prevention Study (NBDPS) from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) which identified medications that can increase the risk for birth defects.
